The operation time takes about 2-3 hours. We perform our operations under general anesthesia. We can do some tipplasty (nose tip aesthetics) and some minor corrections in the office environment with local anesthesia.

Although we do not put tampons in the nose, we use silicone materials placed inside the nose to ensure rapid healing. The silicone splinter can remain for about 2-7 days, depending on the operation performed on the nose. In some cases, we use no intranasal material. In other words, the use of silicone splint differs according to the case.

After the splint outside the nose is removed in the first week after the surgery, the bands outside the nose are renewed for one more week. When the procedures applied in rhinoplasty are performed by making an incision on the skin of the nose, it is called open rhinoplasty, if the incisions are made from the inside so that they cannot be seen from the outside, it is called closed rhinoplasty. Since the nasal skin is elevated in open rhinoplasty, a wider surgical field of view is provided. Similar viewing angles can be achieved with specific instruments used in closed surgery. In closed surgery, since skin incision is not made and tissues are more protected, healing occurs faster, and conditions such as tingling at the tip of the nose are less common. There is no superiority between the two techniques in terms of obtaining better results. Except for revision and some special cases, these two techniques can be applied to almost every patient.

It is a device that works with piezo sound waves, which we use to shape bones during rhinoplasty. Since the bone is shaped with sound waves, the definitions of piezorhinoplasty or ultrasonic rhinoplasty are frequently used for rhinoplasty performed with this device. I use the piezo device in almost every case.

The main factor determining this process is skin structure and thickness. The skin of the noses that have been exposed to the sun for a long time or have undergone surgery before, loses their elasticity regardless of their thickness. For this reason, it may take a long time for them to heal and take shape according to the full nasal skeleton. In addition to this type of patients, it takes approximately 1.5-2 years for the nose to take its full shape in patients with thick skin and ethnic noses. In normal and thin skin structures, this period is approximately 1 year. Again, in normal skin, the nose reaches 60% of its final shape at the end of the 3rd month. In patients with thick skin and revision patients, it is necessary to wait for the 3rd month to have an idea about the nose.

With the closed technique and the use of piezo, bruising and swelling are minimized.
